Box-cut Panel

Citybike Panel with big cardboard box and travel bag

Disposable – up-cycled, bicycled and recycled

Made available to shoppers free of charge. A pair of sturdy angled-panels made with just 5 cuts to particular corrugated cardboard boxes very common in shops and supermarkets. Such open top boxes are used for delivering fruit and vegetables and are very robust. Waxed or laminated for cold storage purposes, they are water resistant to an appropriate degree. They measure appx 60L x 40D x 14H cm (slightly varying sizes will not effect performance). In most shops, staff cut used boxes to flat pack them for waste collection. With a new simple cutting technique they could make these panels available quickly and easily. Performed well in 3 km wet weather tests with each panel carrying 10 kg of shopping bags – 20 kg in total. In dry conditions lasts much much longer.

4 x Fasteners:

  • Fasten box-cut panels to the rear-rack of bicycle to flank each side of the rear wheel
  • Re-openable, strong and waterproof

FIXING IS EASY

Simple Bag Loading Procedure:

Bag handles should be attached to a toggle and placed to hang down over the rack onto the panel on the opposite side. This enables three advantages:

  1. The top of the bag becomes sealed as it crosses over the rack
  2. Larger, longer bags are positioned higher up on the panels and so increase their distance from the ground
  3. It becomes more difficult for shoppers to mount on over-filled bags
